The Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF) – https://www.heidelberg-laureate-forum.org/ is a week-long event where young researchers in mathematics and computer science have the unique opportunity to meet and interact with the laureates of their fields. I was fortunate enough to attend this extraordinary event as a PhD candidate.
The HLF was an incredibly intense and enriching experience, designed to enable meaningful conversations between participants and laureates. Reflecting on the week, I feel inspired, yet also slightly apprehensive about the future of mathematics and science. While automation and AI have not yet reached the point of fundamentally transforming the way science is conducted, the potential they hold, as well as the enthusiasm of some of the laureates for these advancements, is both inspiring and a little daunting.

Overall, the organization of the event was impeccable, and I had the privilege of engaging in fascinating discussions with fellow young researchers, as well as with the laureates and other attendees. Heidelberg itself is a beautiful location for such an event, with its historic charm adding to the experience. The farewell dinner at the Heidelberg Castle was particularly memorable.
In summary, the HLF was a truly inspiring experience, leaving me with new ideas, connections, and inspiration in my research journey. I can highly recommend it to all young mathematicians and computer scientists.
